Graduate Student Meghan Knudtzon Wins Outstanding TA Award

Graduate Student Meghan Knudtzon won the Outstanding TA Award. Congratulations Meghan! Some of Meghan's students said "Meghan brightens the room with her enthusiasm every day of lab. She really enourages all of us to dig deeper into the concepts and think outside of the realm. She was always enthusiastic about chemistry, which provided a great positive environment conducive to learning. It was a great balance. Meghan was a great TA!"

Graduate Student Rachel Swedin was an honorable mention for the award.

Special Seminar Matt Hauwiller

Matthew Hauwiller willl be giving a special seminar entitled "Understanding the Mechanism of Non-Equilibrium Etching of Gold Nanocrystals Through Graphene Liquid Cell TEM" at 3 pm on Thursday December 21st in Smith 117/119. Matthew Hauwiller received his undergraduate degrees in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from the University of Minnesota and is currently a graduate student in Prof. Paul Alivisatos’ research group at UC Berkeley.

David named Department Head

David has recently been named the new department head with the position beginning September 1st, 2017. The group looks forward to seeing Dave succeed in this new position.

Energy and U Show Featured in Legacy Magazine

In 2016 the Energy and U show brought over 13,000 3rd-6th grade students from around Minnesota to the Rarig Theater for an hour long performace that includes music, dancing, and plenty of explosions. Prof. Blank is the show's co-creator, program director, and a regular performer.
